This series of Chinese textbooks is specifically designed for children who don’t live in a Chinese-speaking environment. It covers four levels, each comprising two volumes: a and b. After finishing all four levels, students can: ⊙ communicate in simple Chinese ⊙ grasp about 600 words ⊙ get exposed to about 500 Chinese characters ⊙ learn about 60 Chinese songs ⊙learn 8 cultural knowledge (festivals, Beijing opera, kites, papercuts, and calligraphy)
There are 15 lessons at level one, including family members, body parts, pets, colors, numbers, and greetings. Students will recognize and pronounce Mandarin Chinese phonetic sounds (Pinyin) and tones. They will also demonstrate the ability to write and identify 20 characters, including their meanings and proper stroke order.
There are 15 lessons at level two: numbers 21—40, more colors, brothers, sisters, toys, good friends, love of reading, and dress up play. Students will recognize 50+ Characters.
There are 15 lessons at level 3A and 15 at level 3B. Students will meet twice per week for this class. The topics are weekdays, time, stationery, classroom, animals and snacks, school facilities, job positions, hobbies, food & drink, and nature.
They will demonstrate the ability to write and identify 250 + characters.
There are 15 lessons at level 4a and 15 at level 4b. Students will meet twice per week for this class. The topics are telephone numbers, languages, daily routine, weather, clothes, school facilities, school subjects, sports, and means of transport. In each lesson besides reviewing the characters, more exercises on character and radical writing, sentence making, and textual expression are provided. An independent section is devoted to listening.
From levels 5-8, we focus on expanding the vocabulary bank and adding complex grammar. Students will express themselves in full sentences and paragraphs, and engage in conversations.
Students will communicate more fluently and confidently!
This textbook has a total of 5 units, each unit has 3 lessons, which respectively introduce: 1. family, hobbies, making friends, 2. climate, booking air tickets, shopping, 3. learning Chinese, summer jobs, and partying. 4.Diets, accidents, volunteering, 5. China, Spring Festival, New Year's Eve dinner and other daily contents.
This level of content presents practical dialogues and short articles. It is also equipped with simple explanations of grammar points and an introduction to stylistic writing. All of which help students communicate in fluent and accurate Chinese.
This book is the 6th volume of the series, and we will break it into 30 lessons.
